New Security Officers on Patrol; First Thursday Jan. 1
Private security officers are now patrolling downtown San Pedro. They hit the pavement at the beginning of the month, under contract with the newly implemented Business Improvement District. The officers will patrol the downtown area daily and on weekend nights. The firm, Andrews International, is credited with helping revitalize Hollywood. First Thursday is taking place on New Year’s Day beginning at 5 p.m. Take a “STARTwalk” through downtown to start the year on Jan. 1. Select galleries and shops will be open, along with downtown restaurants. Check the First Thursday website next week for the schedule of events.
