60-Day Relief for Downtown Night Parking

The downtown San Pedro parking meters will not be enforced after 5 p.m. in April and May, Councilwoman Janice Hahn wrote in a letter to business owners. The councilwoman is also pushing for a parking permit system and a regular end time of 6 p.m., according to her March 27 letter.

I take it I misunderstood
about the Parking Meter's in San Pedro not charging after 5:00 p.m.the months of April and May.(Posted April 3rd in San Pedro News.)I went to dinner
on 7th Street with 3 other ladies Saturday night, April 18th @ 5:30 p.m. Parked in the lot by Marcello's restaurant. We ended up paying $12.00 to park as we were going to the Warner Grand Theater after dinner. So we should have parked on the street where the meter's were I take it, if parking was available? The parking lots are not included in the
5:00 p.m.cut off it seems
because they took our credit cards. Seems the restaurant owners/personal don't know what to tell us either because they didn't have an answer. I just know I will think carefully about doing business in downtown San Pedro knowing that the fee I have to pay takes away from the money I could spend at a restaurant or store. I'm retired and live in San Pedro,
on a fixed income. This
increased cost makes it very difficult to enjoy my own town without the irritation of knowing I could get a parking ticket
if I don't pay up.
